ASP.NET tab missing from IIS

Recently one of my partners did an upgrade on their production servers (Windows Server 2003 R2 – Enterprise Edition) to .NET framework 3.0 and 3.5. After the upgrade, they noticed that the ASP.NET tab is missing on IIS. The following is the ASP.NET tab that I’m referring:

I did some investigations and discover a workaround to solve this problem. You may try the following ways if you encountered such problems:

In your Registry Editor, look for the key

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\{A4CA8810-6E46-36FF-A048-B7FD564742F8}]

Once you have found the key, look for the following two keys:

Key 1
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\{A4CA8810-6E46-36FF-A048-B7FD564742F8}\2.0\win32]

and change the value of the key to "Path" (no double quotes)

Key 2
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\{A4CA8810-6E46-36FF-A048-B7FD564742F8}\2.0\HELPDIR]

and change the value of the key to "Path" (no double quotes)

The following are the keys are changing the value to "Path":

If changing the values of the keys don’t solve your problem, then you may try the following:

In your Registry Editor, look for the key

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\{A4CA8810-6E46-36FF-A048-B7FD564742F8}] (is the same key as above)

Once you have found the key, look for the following two keys:

Key 1
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\{A4CA8810-6E46-36FF-A048-B7FD564742F8}\2.0\win32] (is the same key as above)

and change the value of the key to
"C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727" (no double quotes)

Key 2
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\{A4CA8810-6E46-36FF-A048-B7FD564742F8}\2.0\HELPDIR] (is the same key as above)

and change the value of the key to
"C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727" (no double quotes)

The following are the keys are changing the value to
"C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727":

Hope this solves the problem! Good luck. 🙂
